The Gentlemen, directed by Guy Ritchie, is a British gangster film filled with wit, humor, and strong performances. The movie caters to fans of Ritchie’s previous efforts, but those not familiar with his style may not find it appealing. The Gentlemen features less action than expected, but its clever back-and-forth dialogues between characters like Hugh Grant and Charlie Hunnam make up for it. Although it has a slightly messy narrative, the performances of actors like McConaughey, Farrell, Grant, Hunnam, and Dockery help to keep the story together. Henry Golding’s role is underdeveloped, but overall the film is a cool, snappy, and entertaining display of Ritchie’s established genre skills.
