Reading this story (like any thriller) is all about untangling the complicated web of events. There is certainly plenty of intrigue to keep you hooked. The author’s talent lies in taking controversial, painful, and even terrifying elements of reality and weaving them into an addictive story. It is a real gift, and Gomez Jurado has it. It took me a while to realize this. To be honest, at first I thought he was a bit of an “impostor”, imitating the style of other authors. But the more of his books I read, the more I changed my mind.
Cicatriz tells the story of a stereotypical nerd with everyday problems who meets a woman with green eyes like ice and a scar on her face. But it also involves friendship and bitterness, the mafia, drugs, and a person’s never-ending loop of revenge that prevents them from ever being happy again. With wit, rhythm, and narrative quality, Gomez Jurado manages to make it so that the only important thing is not untangling the web, but reflecting on the humanity of his characters.

El talento del autor radica en tomar elementos controvertidos, dolorosos e incluso aterradores de la realidad y entretejerlos en una historia adictiva. Es un auténtico regalo, y Gómez Jurado lo tiene. Me tomó un tiempo darme cuenta de esto. Para ser honesto, al principio pensé que era un poco “impostor”, imitando el estilo de otros autores. Pero cuantos más libros suyos leía, más cambiaba de opinión.

Con ingenio, ritmo y calidad narrativa, Gómez Jurado logra que lo único importante no sea desenredar la telaraña, sino reflexionar sobre la humanidad de sus personajes.
