“Army of Thieves” is a prequel to “Army of the Dead” directed by Matthias Schweighöfer, who played the role of safecracker Ludwig Dieter in the original film. It tells the story of how he joined the crew and developed his affinity for safes. The movie plays out more as a straight-up heist film with a mix of comedy, rather than the heightened zombie action of AotD. Schweighöfer’s Ludwig is a likable lead and is well-paired with Nathalie Emmanuel’s character, Gwen. The rest of the crew is also interesting enough to add stakes to the story, even if it is fairly standard in terms of narrative.
The movie is stylishly executed, showing a more restrained approach than Snyder, who acts as writer and producer here. However, like AotD, it begins to overstay its welcome at times, with some sequences not as strong as others. Despite this, “Army of Thieves” is a superior effort in the growing Armyverse and manages to be a surprisingly decent and entertaining watch.

Cuenta la historia de cómo se unió a la tripulación y desarrolló su afinidad por las cajas fuertes. La película se desarrolla más como una película de atracos con una mezcla de comedia, en lugar de la acción zombie intensificada de AotD.
