Lorenzo Silva and Noemí Trujillo fall short with this new title. The investigation takes place during the pandemic, but the pandemic itself becomes a character. An eerie image of Madrid is attempted, but it fails to deliver as we’ve all seen it on television and the internet. The novel’s problem is that I can’t empathize with the inspector, victims, or suspects. On the bright side, Silva and Trujillo have a polished writing style and work well together. Also, the police investigation is well-researched, as is typical of this author.
Lorenzo Silva y Noemí Trujillo se quedan cortos con este nuevo título. La investigación transcurre durante la pandemia, pero la propia pandemia se convierte en un personaje. Se intenta una imagen espeluznante de Madrid, pero falla, ya que todos la hemos visto en la televisión e Internet. El problema de la novela es que no puedo empatizar con el inspector, las víctimas o los sospechosos.
En el lado positivo, Silva y Trujillo tienen un estilo de escritura pulido y trabajan bien juntos. Además, la investigación policial está bien documentada, como es propio de este autor.
