Pig has one of the strangest movie titles of 2021, but don’t let that fool you; it’s a surprisingly endearing and meditative movie. Nicolas Cage’s Robin is a man whose love for his pig and his old profession of cooking outweighs the need for violence. He is joined by Amir (Wolff), a truffle supplier living in his father’s shadow, and the two must form an unlikely bond. Cage’s heartfelt and somber performance adds weight and emotion to the narrative, and Wolff turns in another great performance. Though the story is basic, it is a character-driven piece about kindness, loss, and love that is superbly realized by debutant Sarnoski. Pig may feel like one of the smallest movies of the year, but it is definitely one of the best.

Pig tiene uno de los títulos de películas más extraños de 2021, pero no dejes que eso te engañe; es una película sorprendentemente entrañable y meditativa. El Robin de Nicolas Cage es un hombre cuyo amor por su cerdo y su antiguo oficio de cocinar superan la necesidad de violencia. A él se une Amir (Wolff), un proveedor de trufas que vive a la sombra de su padre, y los dos deben formar un vínculo poco probable. La actuación sincera y sombría de Cage agrega peso y emoción a la narrativa, y Wolff se convierte en otra gran actuación. Aunque la historia es básica, es una pieza impulsada por los personajes sobre la bondad, la pérdida y el amor que el debutante Sarnoski interpreta magníficamente. Pig puede parecer una de las películas más pequeñas del año, pero definitivamente es una de las mejores.
