A Quiet Place was a critically acclaimed horror film that caught audiences by surprise with its simple premise of staying quiet to avoid the mysterious beasts. Its success led to the production of A Quiet Place Part II, which picks up a year after the events of the first film. The story follows Emily Blunt’s Evelyn as she tries to keep her children alive while they’re on the run, along with the help of a new character played by Cillian Murphy. The sequel can’t quite replicate the surprise and tension of the original and some of the scares feel familiar, which is disappointing. However, the performances, particularly by Simmonds, who is the main lead, are strong and retain the emotional drama that worked so well in the first film. Murphy’s character adds some mystery and uncertainty to the established family structure. There are still some effective and tense sequences in the film, but they’re not as impactful as those in the first movie, and some are caused by unwise character decisions. The apocalyptic landscape is once again captured well and the sound design remains top-notch. Although it’s clear that a third installment is in the works, it makes one wonder about how much potential is left for the series. Overall, A Quiet Place Part II is a respectable sequel, but it doesn’t quite live up to the standard set by its predecessor.

A Quiet Place fue una película de terror aclamada por la crítica que sorprendió al público con su simple premisa de permanecer en silencio para evitar a las misteriosas bestias. Su éxito condujo a la producción de A Quiet Place Part II, que comienza un año después de los eventos de la primera película. La historia sigue a Evelyn, interpretada por Emily Blunt, mientras trata de mantener con vida a sus hijos mientras huyen, junto con la ayuda de un nuevo personaje interpretado por Cillian Murphy. La secuela no puede replicar la sorpresa y la tensión del original y algunos de los sustos se sienten familiares, lo cual es decepcionante. Sin embargo, las actuaciones, particularmente las de Simmonds, quien es el protagonista principal, son sólidas y conservan el drama emocional que funcionó tan bien en la primera película.
