“The Matrix Resurrections” is a movie that many have deemed unnecessary and unimportant. The film feels like a cash grab by Warner Bros, and the reunion of the original cast members is nice, but it doesn’t make up for the lackluster plot and unimpressive new additions to the cast. The absence of Laurence Fishburne is keenly felt, and the performances of Jonathan Groff and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are underwhelming. The only redeeming quality of the film is the CGI, which has improved greatly since the first trilogy. Overall, the franchise should have been left alone after the original trilogy, and Lana Wachowski should have declined the opportunity to revive it.
