“Triangle of Sadness” by Ruben Östlund has generated divided opinions because some find its objectives obvious and crude, while others think they deserve criticism and that the director uses his wit to do so with hilarious precision. The film tells a three-act story and its first act presents an elegant dinner between two models who discuss gender roles and transactional relationships in a sharp and novel way. However, in the second act, the plot develops aboard a yacht where Östlund plays with different levels of society, presenting bitter interactions between the crew and passengers. The third act is a fascinating sequence in which the characters sit down for a luxurious Captain’s dinner, which results in a chaotic expression of bodily fluids that basically tears down all social structures.
Although some find the film falls short of greatness, it comfortably stays at the level of being good, although unpacking such bad behaviors. Östlund uses his wit to criticize superficial elites and presents characters who are destined to fall from the pedestals on which they live. Although his intention may seem pretentious, this does not make the film significantly less entertaining as a social satire. Overall, “Triangle of Sadness” is an entertaining film that presents sharp dialogue and twists in the narration and questions the social structures of the elite and their behaviors.

“Triangle of Sadness” de Ruben Östlund ha generado opiniones divididas debido a que algunos encuentran sus objetivos obvios y burdos, mientras que otros piensan que merecen una crítica y que el director utiliza su ingenio para hacerlo con precisión hilarante. La película cuenta una historia de tres actos y su primer acto presenta una cena elegante entre dos modelos que discuten sobre los roles de género y las relaciones transaccionales de manera aguda y novedosa. Sin embargo, en el segundo acto, la trama se desarrolla a bordo de un yate donde Östlund juega con diferentes niveles de la sociedad, presentando interacciones amargas entre la tripulación y los pasajeros. El tercer acto es una secuencia fascinante en la que los personajes se sientan para una cena de Capitán lujosa, que resulta en una expresión caótica de fluidos corporales que básicamente derriba todas las estructuras sociales.
Aunque algunos encuentran que la película se queda corta de la grandeza, se mantiene cómodamente en el nivel de lo bueno, aunque desempaqueta comportamientos tan malos. Östlund utiliza su ingenio para criticar a la élite superficial y presenta a personajes que están destinados a caer de los pedestales en los que viven.
